2008-12-01: Progress
I have started to make and fit new brackets for the body and other minor stuff. I have also reworked the pedal attachments so that there will be apr ox 50mm more leg room. I will now be able to have my heels on top of the frame tube..
2008-11-12: Finally
So I have finally got my car in the garage. I have managed to make a dummy build with the parts that came with the car and it all looks to be there except for the exhaust manifold and engine/gearbox adapter. This week I have removed the awful dashboard and some brackets that needs replacing. The frame looks to be in good condition and it shouldn't be to much work to get it right. You can find a lot of pictures off the project
here.
2008-10-19: My new car
This is my new project a Lotus 61 FF1600 from 1970. The car is fairly complete, what I know by now that´s missing is bell house, exhaust manifold and the diff for the gearbox. The car is still in storage and I will upload more pictures of it as soon as I get it home and start the restoration.
2008-09-20: Sold
The car is now sold to Norway. I have a new project in mind for this winter which I will present here as soon as I have collected it.
2008-09-20: Results
I came 3rd in this years RHK-Cup and won the Historic Single Seater's Master for Sweden/Finland/Denmark/Norway
2008-09-10: Falkenberg
Final in RHK-Cup. I did not make it to the free practice on friday this year due to work duties. On Saturday the only action was qualifying which was a disaster. Most of the qualifying was under safety car as a Rf87 had gone off just after the esses in the wet condition. I only managed 8th place on the grid. The weather cleared during the day and the forecast for sunday was dry and the hopes high. However when we woke up on sunday it was wet again. I made a good start and was but it got busy at the first corner and someone cut across my nose which became dislodged and for the rest of the race brakes looked easily due to the nose scraping the ground. I finished as 9th which would be my starting position for the next race in the afternoon. For the second race the track had dried and I made good progress through the field up to 4th place. I challenged for 3rd at the last lap but locked up and spun loosing another place finishing fifth. At least I set fastest lap during the race.
2008-09-10: Våler
This years trip abroad went to Våler in Norway as it was part of the RHK-Cup. Finally Atte was making his return with the Hawke since the crash in 2006. I had a slow friday as I had left the transponder on since Knutstorp and the battery was flat. At least Atte got some support and his car worked well without to many problems.
2008-07-05: SSM Knutstorp
As I hurt my back just before the SSM at Knutstorp I missed for the first time in 10+ years.
2008-06-03: Ronnie Peterson Historic Grand Prix
At the RPHGP there was a 40th anniversary race for FF1600, 40 years since the first FF race at Scandinavian Raceway , Anderstorp The weekend was also celebrating Ronnie Peterson and 30 years since the last F1 race at Anderstorp. For this race I had rented my Rf76 to Greger Aronsson and I was able to once more race my RF85. Qualifying went well with pole 2.1sek before second placed Niklas in his Reynard 89. Greger had some issues with the RF76 not running cleanly. This would be his first race since 2005 in a Radical. In the first race I didn't get away well from the start so Nicklas was able to pass me in out of the first corner. I managed to pass him on the second lap and stayed ahead during the rest of the race taking the chequered flag with a 2 seconds lead.
For the second race i made a good start and was chased by Nicklas for 2 laps when I got away and was able to extend my lead to 13sec and 32 sec to third placed Micke Juhlin in his RP31. We managed to sort the problems with the Rf76 and Greger finished 13th.
2008-06-03: First race at Kinnekulle
First race at Kinnekulle went well after some trouble early on. I had been on the dyno on Tuesday with the car making sure tat it would run alright and to have the problems from the test day sorted. But on qualifying Saturday morning it had a misfire and I only managed 5th time. This turned out to be a bad capacitor and changing it sorted most of the problem for the first race. I made a decent start but got stuck behind Bert fore some laps. When he made a mistake under the bridge I managed to pass him and quickly caught Håkan which was easier to pass. I almost got in contact with the leading trio before some lapped drivers hindered my progress. So I managed a 4th place despite an engine that stumbled at 5000rpm and misfired in RH corners.
On sunday warm up the stumble was almost gone thanks to some carb tuning. For the second race I had pole thanks to setting the fastest lap time in the race on saturday. I made a good start and got a good gap straight away only to find the safety car waiting on the first lap. Someone had gone of on the first lap. The second start wasn´t that good and Björn managed to get beside me in the first corner, but as he was on the outside I had the corner. As he tried to tuck in behind me he hit my LR wheel and he got sideways and in turn got hit from behind by Niklas. I therefore got a good lead and had easy ride to victory
2008-05-07: Spring
I have been out for a test day at Kinnekulle for a first shakedown test and everything worked as it should except for a minor oil leak. Times were respectable but not great since I had old tires and the track was very dirty from recent work on the gravel traps. Once the new tires are on and the engine have been on the dyno I expect to be right on pace again. Progress on Atte's car is slow at the moment and I´m doubtful if it will be ready for the first race at Kinnekulle on the 24-25 May.
2008-04-16: Spring
The Hawke is back in Atte's garage and I have started work on my own car. I have installed the engine and gearbox in the RF85 so it´s almost ready to race again. The RF76 is almost finished with the engine back in and started. The goal is to have it dynoed before first practice at Kinnekulle Ring 26 April. Spare engines is ready both for the -85 and the -76
2008-03-19: Spring
The body to the Hawke is back from the paint shop and I got all the parts back from plating. The seat is ready and was covered in speaker box felt.
2008-02-25: Winter
This weekend we made a foam seat for Atte's Hawke, it will be the mould for a fibreglass seat. I have also got round to putting together my engines. One for the RF76 and one for the RF85.
2008-02-15: Winter
Progress have been slow since christmas. 2 weeks holiday in Thailand followed by a bad back which have hampered me for 6 weeks. After that there was some problem with the first layer of primer. It never set properly and I was forced to scrape it all off and start over. Now the body is finally ready for paint . The tank have been covered in a layer of GRP to meet the FF regulations.
